Lost & Found

She felt nothing more than like a pair of abandoned ice skates in the springtime.

As all blossomed around her, there she hung, uselessly.

Out of time in the grand scheme of things, misplaced to an observer's eye, forgotten, left behind.

She stood as a reminder of another season, complete with its joys, but now tinted with rust.

She was mismatched with her environment, just like these skates.

And while it may have attempted to envelope her, welcome her as a part of itself, she still stood as an oddity.

The contrast to what was warm and beautiful.

Entrenched in the veins of this world, she longed for her owner to retrieve her, for winter to giver her a purpose once more.
